The Thessaloniki Olympic Museum was founded in 2001, under the support of the Ministry of Culture, of the Ministry of Macedonia–Thrace and more Sports and Athletic Associations. The Museum is a non-profit, cultural institution, initially named “SPORTS MUSEUM”. In 2008, the International Olympic Committee, recognized the museum as Olympic Museum, unique in Greece. It is an institution, dedicated to preserve and highlight the history of the sports and of the Olympic Games as well as to spread the Olympic Values, especially in youth. It has a curriculum of producing highly appreciated temporary exhibitions and it is very well known for offering high standard educational programs, for more than 25000 of school pupils, annually. The Olympic Museum, is widely recognized for its educational and exhibition programs and it is trusted by collectors, athletes, Olympians and their family members, for conserving their Olympic heritage.
