Description

Hard, flat surfaces of stone, wood, or metal on which a mass of molten glass gathered on the end of a blowpipe or pontil is rolled and shaped in glassmaking. A smooth, flat surface on which softened glass is rolled, when attached to a blowpipe or pontil, in order to smooth it or to consolidate applied decoration. (EN)

Surfaces dures et planes de pierre, de bois ou de métal sur lesquelles une masse de verre en fusion recueillie au bout d'une sarbacane ou d'un pontil est roulée et façonnée en verrerie. Surface lisse et plane sur laquelle le verre ramolli est roulé, lorsqu'il est fixé à un chalumeau ou un pontil, afin de le lisser ou de consolider la décoration appliquée. (FR)
