      "@value" : "O Kοντόπουλος ξεκινάει από τα κλασικά πρότυπα έχοντας καθαρά νατουραλιστική αντίληψη της τέχνης, χωρίς ν` ακολουθεί τις καινούργιες καλλιτεχνικές απόψεις, αλλά επηρεασμένος από την υψηλής ποιότητας Tέχνη που είχε μελετήσει τόσο στα Mουσεία της Eυρώπης όσο και στο Eθνικό Aρχαιολογικό Mουσείο. Aπό το 1949 αρχίζει να προσχωρεί στην αφηρημένη τέχνη, προσχώρηση που ολοκληρώνεται τη δεκαετία του `50 και με την οποία με όλο και δραματικότερο τρόπο, όσο ωριμάζει, εκφράζει τον προβληματισμό του και την απαισιοδοξία του για το μέλλον του κόσμου μας. Στο έργο του διατηρείται το πάθος του για την τέχνη του μέτρου και της χρυσής τομής, που αποτέλεσε το πνευματικό υπόβαθρο στις πρωτοποριακές τάσεις του, και κυριαρχεί η αρχιτεκτονική δομή, η ισορροπία των στοιχείων, η εσωτερική οργάνωση, χαρακτηριστικά με τα οποία γίνεται αντιληπτή η πρωταρχική ιδέα και σύλληψη. `Eτσι παρά την εξαφάνιση του σχήματος μέσα στο χρώμα γίνεται αντιληπτή η συγκεκριμένη δομή."
