Ραδιοτηλεγράφημα από το πλοίο Ευρυμέδων στον εφοπλιστή Κ. Σκηνίτη στον Πειραιά, μέσω του οποίου γίνεται ενημέρωση για την αναχώρηση του πλοίου από το Κουρακάο, ενώ παράλληλα αποστέλλονται ευχές για καλές γιορτές. Το 1946 ο ελληνικός στόλος βρισκόταν σε εξαιρετικά χαμηλό επίπεδο έχοντας απολέσει το 70% της δύναμής του λόγω πολέμου. Η αντικατάσταση των βυθισθέντων ελληνικών πλοίων από τα αμερικανικά liberty, έδωσε τεράστια ώθηση στην ελληνική ναυτιλία οδηγώντας την στο μεταπολεμικό άλμα. Τα liberty υπήρξαν πλοία του αμερικανικού στόλου που είχαν ναυπηγηθεί μαζικά κατά τη διάρκεια του πολέμου για να καλύψουν την τεράστια ζήτηση. Στις 9 Απριλίου 1946 η ελληνική κυβέρνηση εγγυήθηκε την αγορά 100 liberty, εκ μέρους των εφοπλιστών, στο ένα τρίτο της αρχικής τους τιμής. H αγορά αυτή αποτέλεσε σημείο τομής για την αλματώδη μεταπολεμική ανάπτυξη της ελληνικής ναυτιλίας. Οι Έλληνες εφοπλιστές συνέχισαν να αγοράζουν liberty καθ όλη τη διάρκεια της δεκαετίας του 1950. Radio telegram sent from the ship Evrimedon to the ship owner K. Skinitis in Piraeus. In the telegram, the ship's departure date from Curacao is announced, while holiday wishes are also sent. In 1946, the Greek fleet was really weak as 70% of its power was lost in the war. When the sunken Greek ships were replaced by the American liberty ships, Greek shipping was boosted leading to its postwar leap. Liberties were American ships that were mass-built during the war in order to keep up with the large demand. On 9 April 1946, the Greek government bought 100 liberty ships for one third of their original value on behalf of the ship owners. This purchase was a breakthrough for the postwar development of Greek shipping. During the 1950s, Greek ship owners continued to buy liberty ships. (EN)
