Αποτελούνταν από μια ισχυρή βάση με δύο σταθερά έδρανα και ένα μετακινούμενο. Ανάμεσα στα σταθερά έδρανα ήταν τοποθετημένος ένας άξονας με διαφορετικές διατομές για την εξασφάλιση διαφορετικών ταχυτήτων περιστροφής. Η χορδή ενός τόξου τυλιγόταν στην επιθυμητή διατομή και με την παλινδρομική κίνηση του τόξου ο άξονας περιστρεφόταν αριστερόστροφα και δεξιόστροφα εναλλάξ. Το κατεργαζόμενο αντικείμενο προσαρμοζόταν ανάμεσα στην σταυροειδή προεξοχή του άξονα και το μετακινούμενο έδρανο. Το κοπτικό εργαλείο στηριζόταν πάνω στην ανώτερη οριζόντια δοκό και προωθούνταν πάνω στο περιστρεφόμενο αντικείμενο.

It consisted of a powerful base with two stable bearings and one which moved. An axle with different cross-sections for the guarantee of different speed rotation was placed between the stable bearings. The string of a bow was wrapped around the desired cross-section and with the reciprocating movement of the bow, the axle was turned left and right alternately. The work piece was adapted between the cross edge of the axle and the movable bearing. The cutting tool was supported on the upper horizontal bar and was applied in the rotating piece.
