The lighthouse at Kastri Gavrio, Andros islands

Beam 5 miles and focal height 68 meters. Round stone tower in the middle of the lighthouse keeper's residence. It is located on the west coast of Andros, at the Kastri end of the Gavrio anchorage (arch. Andros prospormos and Gavroleon). It was built by the French Lighthouse Company and is one of the few lighthouses in the Greek Lighthouse network, where the keeper's residence has two floors. In 1941 it was destroyed by the Germans and reopened in 1945. Today it has been replaced by an automatic lantern and the old lighthouse building is in ruins, but in 2022, restoration efforts were made to restore the lighthouse with the care and expense of the Andros shipowner, Captain Giannoulis Kampanis
Φωτοβολία 5 μίλια και εστιακό ύψος 68 μέτρα. Πύργος στρογγυλός λιθόκτιστος στη μέση της κατοικίας των φαροφυλάκων. Βρίσκεται στη δυτική ακτή της Άνδρου, στην άκρη Καστρί του αγκυροβολίου του Γαυρίου (αρχ. Άνδρου πρόσορμος και Γαυρολέων). Χτίστηκε από τη Γαλλική Εταιρεία Φάρων και είναι ένας από τους ελάχιστους φάρους του Ελληνικού Φαρικού δικτύου, όπου η κατοικία των φυλάκων έχει δυο ορόφους. Το 1941 καταστράφηκε από τους Γερμανούς και επαναλειτούργησε το 1945. Σήμερα έχει αντικατασταθεί από αυτόματο φανάρι και το κτίριο του παλιού φάρου είναι ερειπωμένο, αλλά το 2022 έγιναν ενέργειες αποκατάστασης του φάρου με μέριμνα και δαπάνη του Ανδρειώτη εφοπλιστή, καπετάν Γιαννούλη Καμπάνη.
