Φωτοβολία 16 μίλια και εστιακό ύψος 33 μέτρα. Πύργος λευκός κυλινδρικός φτιαγμένος από συμπαγείς οπτόπλινθους, όπως οι καμινάδες των πρώτων βιομηχανικών κτιρίων στη Θεσσαλονίκη, κοντά στην κατοικία των φαροφυλάκων. Βρίσκεται στο ανατολικό κέρας (αρχ. Μέγας Έμβολος) του στομίου του εσωτερικού κόλπου (Θερμαϊκού) και στην κορυφή της ανατολικής ακτής. Κατασκευάστηκε από τη Γαλλική Εταιρεία Οθωμανικών Φάρων για λογαριασμό της Οθωμανικής Αυτοκρατορίας. Στο Ελληνικό Φαρικό Δίκτυο ενσωματώθηκε μετά τους νικηφόρους Βαλκανικούς Πολέμους του 1912–1913. Το 1941 καταστράφηκε από τους Γερμανούς και επαναλειτούργησε το 1944. Κοντά στον φάρο βρίσκεται το φρούριο του Αγγελοχωρίου, χτισμένο την περίοδο 1883–1885 από Γερμανούς μηχανικούς. Το συγκεκριμένο σημείο ήταν στρατηγικής σημασίας από την αρχαιότητα γιατί έλεγχε το πέρασμα στον κόλπο της Θεσσαλονίκης.

Beam 16 miles and focal height 33 meters. White cylindrical tower made of solid bricks, like the chimneys of the first industrial buildings in Thessaloniki, near the lighthouse keepers' residence. It is located on the eastern horn (arch. Megas Embolos) of the mouth of the inner gulf (Thermaikos) and at the top of the eastern coast. It was built by the French Ottoman Lighthouses Company on behalf of the Ottoman Empire. It was incorporated into the Greek Lighthouse Network after the victorious Balkan Wars of 1912–1913. In 1941 it was destroyed by the Germans and reopened in 1944. Near the lighthouse is the fortress of Angelochori, built in the period 1883–1885 by German engineers. This particular point was of strategic importance since antiquity because it controlled the passage to the Gulf of Thessaloniki.
