Kastri lighthouse, Othonoi island

Beam 27 miles and focal height 106 meters. A cylindrical stone tower 13 meters high in the middle of the lighthouse keeper's residence. It is located 550 meters from the eastern tip (Kastri) of the island of Fanos or Faros. This islet was previously called Fanos (Latin), which leads us to the conclusion that a lighthouse must have been operating before 1872. The Kastri Othon lighthouse is the northernmost of the Greek Lighthouse Network and remains under surveillance. In 1941 it was destroyed by the Germans and reopened in 1945.
Φωτοβολία 27 μίλια και εστιακό ύψος 106 μέτρα. Πύργος λιθόκτιστος κυλινδρικός ύψους 13 μέτρων στη μέση της κατοικίας των φαροφυλάκων. Βρίσκεται 550 μέτρα μέσα από την ανατολική άκρη (Καστρί) της νήσου Φανός ή Φάρος. Η συγκεκριμένη νησίδα είχε και παλιότερα την ονομασία Fanos (λατιν.), στοιχείο που μας οδηγεί στο συμπέρασμα ότι θα πρέπει να λειτουργούσε φάρος και πριν το 1872. Ο φάρος Καστρί Οθωνών είναι ο βορειότερος του Ελληνικού Φαρικού Δικτύου και παραμένει επιτηρούμενος. Το 1941 καταστράφηκε από τους Γερμανούς και επαναλειτούργησε το 1945.
