Peristeres island lighthouse, Corfu

Beam 13 miles and focal height 30 meters. A cylindrical white stone tower, 17 meters high, above the lighthouse keeper's residence. It is located on the top of the islet of Peristeres (archaic Pythaea) which the locals call Tiniozo or Kaparelli, opposite Kassiopi, in the Corfu-Albania passage. It was built by the English during the period of the Ionian Ionian State. It joined the Greek Lighthouse Network in 1864 when the Ionian Islands were united with Greece. In 1941 it was destroyed by the Germans and in 1945 it was reopened. Today the building is in ruins and the light has been replaced with an automatic 5-mile beam beacon. This particular lighthouse is the only one in the Greek Lighthouse Network that had large jars for storing water.
Φωτοβολία 13 μίλια και εστιακό ύψος 30 μέτρα. Πύργος λιθόκτιστος κυλινδρικός λευκός, ύψους 17 μέτρων, επάνω στην κατοικία των φαροφυλάκων. Βρίσκεται στην κορυφή της νησίδας Περιστερές (αρχ. Πυθαία) που οι ντόπιοι αποκαλούν Τινιόζο ή Καπαρέλλι, απέναντι από την Κασσιόπη, στο πέρασμα Κέρκυρας-Αλβανίας. Κατασκευάστηκε από τους Άγγλους στην περίοδο της Ιονίου Επτανησιακής Πολιτείας. Στο Ελληνικό Φαρικό Δίκτυο εντάχθηκε το 1864 όταν έγινε η ένωση των Επτανήσων με την Ελλάδα. Το 1941 καταστράφηκε από τους Γερμανούς και το 1945 επαναλειτούργησε. Σήμερα το κτίριο είναι ερειπωμένο και το φωτιστικό έχει αντικατασταθεί με αυτόματο φανάρι φωτοβολίας 5 μιλίων. Ο συγκεκριμένος φάρος είναι ο μοναδικός του Ελληνικού Φαρικού Δικτύου ο οποίος διέθετε μεγάλα πιθάρια για αποθήκευση νερού.
