WOMEN’S VEST (KONTOSI) OF THE TRADITIONAL COSTUME OF ALEXANDREIA WITH A BLUE SAYIAS

Κοντόσι- κοντό μάλλινο γιλέκο παραδοσιακής γυναικείας φορεσιάς με μπλε σαγιά από την Αλεξάνδρεια (Ρουμλούκι) Ημαθίας. Φέρει κυκλική λαιμόκοψη με όρθιο γιακά και κατακόρυφο άνοιγμα μπροστά. Στο μπροστινό άνοιγμα και γύρω από τη μέση φέρει δύο σειρές χρυσό γαϊτάνι, ενώ στον γιακά και τις άκρες των μανικιών μία. Στον γιακά και τον γύρο της μέσης φέρει πλούσιο χρυσό κέντημα με σπειρομαιάνδρους και άλλα γεωμετρικά μοτίβα, τα οποία στο πίσω μέρος δημιουργούν τρίγωνο. Το χρυσοκέντητο κοντόσι το φορούσαν οι νέες κοπέλες και οι νύφες.

Kontosi – Short woollen vest of the women’s traditional costume of Alexandreia (Roumlouki), Imathia, with a blue sayias. It has a round neckline with a stand-up collar and a vertical front opening. It is embellished with two rows of gold cord on the front opening and around the waist, and with one row on the collar and edges of the sleeves. On the collar and around the waist, it is richly embroidered with gold spiral meanders and other geometric motifs that form a triangle on the back. The gold-embroidered kontosi was worn by young women and brides.
