WOMEN’S VEST (KONTOSI) OF THE TRADITIONAL COSTUME OF ALEXANDREIA WITH A BLUE SAYIAS

Κοντόσι- κοντό μάλλινο γιλέκο παραδοσιακής γυναικείας φορεσιάς με μπλε σαγιά από την Αλεξάνδρεια (Ρουμλούκι) Ημαθίας. Φέρει κυκλική λαιμόκοψη με όρθιο γιακά και κατακόρυφο άνοιγμα μπροστά. Στο μπροστινό άνοιγμα, τον γιακά, τις άκρες των μανικιών και γύρω από τη μέση φέρει χρυσά γαϊτάνια. Στον γιακά και τον γύρο της μέσης φέρει επίρραπτο κέντημα με γεωμετρικά μοτίβα. Στο πίσω μέρος δημιουργείται τρίγωνο από τα ίδια μοτίβα, το οποίο περικλείεται από χρυσό γαϊτάνι. Το χρυσοκέντητο κοντόσι το φορούσαν οι νέες κοπέλες και οι νύφες.

Kontosi – Short woollen vest of the women’s traditional costume of Alexandreia (Roumlouki), Imathia, with a blue sayias. It has a round neckline with a stand-up collar and a vertical front opening. It is embellished with gold cords on the front opening, the collar, the edges of the sleeves and around the waist. On the collar and around the waist, it is embellished with appliqued embroidered geometric motifs. On the back, a triangle is formed by these same patterns, which is surrounded by gold cord. The gold-embroidered kontosi was worn by young women and brides.
