Η χρήση του ήταν επιβεβλημένη την εποχή που δεν υπήρχαν ακόμα επαγγελματικοί φούρνοι.
Χρησιμοποιούσαν συνήθως δικής τους παραγωγής άλευρα.
Την φωτιά την άναβαν με ξύλα και κλαδιά που συνέλεγαν από την γύρω περιοχή και από το βουνό .Τα αποθήκευαν στο θολάρι που βρίσκεται δίπλα, το οποίο δεν επικοινωνεί με το σπίτι και έχει πρόσβαση μόνο από το δρόμο.
