Μακροσκελής επιστολή του Τζων Τσάντγουικ προς τον Μάικλ Βέντρις προφανώς σε απάντηση επιστολής του πρώτου, όπου του παρουσίαζε την ερμηνεία του για την αποκρυπτογράφηση της Γραμμικής Β. Τους δύο άντρες είχε φέρει σε επαφή ο Sir John Linton Myres. O Τσάντγουικ συγχαίρει τον Βέντρις για την επίλυση του "Μινωικού ζητήματος", τον παροτρύνει να δημοσιοποιήσει το επίτευγμά του, συνεχίζει με μερικές παρατηρήσεις, λεγοντας, μεταξύ άλλων, ότι σίγουρα ή διάλεκτος είναι ελληνική και του προσφέρει τη βοήθειά του σε ό,τι μπορεί να φανεί χρήσιμος.

Lengthy letter from John Chadwick to Ventri, appaently in reply to the former's communication where he presented his interpretation on the decipherment of Linear B. It wasSir John Linton Myres who had introduced the two men. Chadwick congratulates Ventris on the solution of the "Minoan issue", he urges him to publicize his achievement, he goes on with some remarks on words and letters, saying, among other things, that the dialect is definitely Greek and offers him his help in whatever he can.
