Ο θολωτός τάφος του Βλαχόπουλου ανακαλύφθηκε τυχαία το 1964, όταν το γαϊδουράκι ενός ντόπιου βυθίστηκε μέσα σε αυτόν. Ο Σπ. Μαρινάτος ανέσκαψε τον τάφο την ίδια χρονιά. Ο τάφος ανήκει στην κατηγορία των μικρών θολωτών τάφων και χρονολογείται στην ΥΕΙΙ περίοδο. Η κατασκευή του είναι κάπως περίεργη, αφού τις πλακερές πέτρες της κάτω ζώνης διαδέχεται ζώνη με μεγάλους ακατέργαστους λίθους προς το μέσον και θόλος που υψώνεται απότομα. Στον τάφο βρέθηκαν αξιόλογα δείγματα κεραμικής, όπως κρατήρας με υποκρατήριο, πυξίδα με ενσωματωμένο αλάβαστρο, ψευδόστομος αμφορέας, μόνωτες κύλικες με πόδι και μία φιάλη από λευκό, λεπτότατο πηλό (egg shell). The tholos tomb of Vlachopoulo was discovered accidentatly in 1964, when the donkey of a local inhabitant sunk in it. Spyridon Marinatos excavated the tomb the same year. The tomb belongs to the category of small tholos tombs of Messenia and dates to the LH II period. Its construction is somewhat strange, since the flat stones constituting the lower zone are succeeded by a zone of large coarse stones in the middle and a tholos which rises abruptly. In the tomb was discovered pottery of good quality, such as a crater with its stand, a pyxis with an alabaster inside, a stirrup jar, stemmed cylixes with one handle and a bowl made of off-white, very fine clay (egg shell).
