Ο «Κύκλος» μέχρι σήμερα παραμένει μια προβληματική κατασκευή, που η λειτουργία της δεν έχει αποσαφηνιστεί πλήρως. Ο πρώτος ανασκαφέας, Σπ. Μαρινάτος είχε υποστηρίξει ότι είναι πιθανόν να αποτελούσε περίβολο τύμβου, που κάλυπτε τους θολωτούς τάφους 2 και 3. Η υπόθεση αυτή, διαψεύστηκε από τις ανασκαφικές έρευνες της δεκαετίας του 1970 επί Γ. Κορρέ, όποτε και διαπιστώθηκε ότι πρόκειται για δύο ανεξάρτητα τόξα, που βαίνουν απλώς επί της ίδιας περιφέρειας.

The Circle remains until today a rather problematic structure the function of which has not been fully identified. The first excavator, Sp.Marinatos believed that it was possibly a surrounding wall of a tumulus, covering the tholos tombs II and III. This hypothesis was ruled out by the more recent excavations by G. Korres in the 1970s as it was proved that it consists of two independent arches on the same perimeter.
