Ανοικτό αγγείο κωνικού σχήματος, τα τοιχώματα του οποίου διευρύνονται προς τα έξω. Καταλήγει σε επίπεδη βάση, ενώ στο εσωτερικό φέρει τοξοειδή λαβή συμφυή με τον πάτο του αγγείου. Στην κορυφή του τόξου, που σχηματίζει η εσωτερική λαβή, αναπτύσσεται στέλεχος υποδοχής κωνικού σχήματος. Οι γνώμες των μελετητών διίστανται για τη χρήση του εν λόγω αντικειμένου. Ο Μαρινάτος επισημαίνει ότι τέτοιας μορφής κεραμεική δεν είναι άγνωστη στην περιοχή του Αιγαίου, της Συρίας και της Αιγύπτου (απ’ όπου πιθανολογεί και την προέλευσή του) και ότι η γεωγραφική διασπορά του φθάνει μέχρι και την Κεντρική Ευρώπη. Θεωρεί ότι ο σχηματισμός στο κέντρο του αγγείου υποβοηθά το διαχωρισμό των νημάτων (μίτων) από δύο διαφορετικά κουβάρια, προκειμένου να πλεχθεί παχύτερη και σταθερότερη κλωστή, δηλαδή «δίμιτον νήμα». Κατ’ αναλογίαν προτείνει τον όρο «Διμιτεύς» ως ονομασία του σκεύους. Την υπόθεση ότι το αγγείο σχετίζεται με την τεχνική του γνεσίματος ενισχύει και η άποψη του Γ. Κορρέ. (EL)
Open-type vessel of a conical shape. Its base is flat which, on the inner side, is crowned by an arch-shaped handle; at the handle's top there is another conical socket. The scholars' opinions regarding the usage of this item differ. Marinatos notes that such pottery types are not unknown from the region of the Aegean, Syria and Egypt (possible location of origin of this specific item) and extend up to central Europe. He believes that the socket on the handle in the centre serves for separating the strands from two different yarns, in order to create a sturdier thread, i.e. the so-called “double thread” (dimiton nima). He therefore suggests that the vessel should be called “dimiteus”. This view is supported by G. Korres. (EN)
