Κεραμεική τετράπλευρη κατασκευή, με χαμηλά τοιχώματα στις τρεις από τις τέσσερεις πλευρές, η οποία χρησίμευε ως εστία μαγειρέματος. Η εστία χρησίμευε και ως ψησταριά. Στις πλευρές των λεγόμενων κρατευτών διακρίνονται οι εγκοπές, όπου στηρίζονταν οι οβελοί (σουβλάκια) για το ψήσιμο του κρέατος. Αναφορές για τα συγκεκριμένα ειδικά στηρίγματα, που συνήθως απαντώνται σε ζευγάρια, σώζονται στα Ομηρικά έπη (πρβλ. Ιλιάδα Ι 214, Οδύσσεια γ 463). (EL)
Clay rectangular construction which served for grilling meat and possibly for cooking also. On the low rim there are notches for placing the spikes on which pieces of meat were placed for grilling. The Homeric poems (e.g. Iliad 1.214, Odyssey 3.463) refer to this kind of grilling. (EN)
