William Klein's photographic albums include series of raw, blurred images of urban life filled with actions and movements that showed minimal interest in traditional photographic composition. His mainly black and white shots play with non-central subjects and enhance contrast. Using entirely improvisational methods of shooting, his primary aim was to make the viewer an active participant in the scene. He emphasized, "Interact with people, listen to their conversations, and usually be close enough to see the colours of their eyes".
