Η μεικτής τεχνικής προτομή XXXL Necklace του Λεωνίδα Γεροντίδη προκαλεί στον θεατή διφορούμενες σκέψεις: Από τη μία παραπέμπει πιθανόν στη φυλή Kayan της Μιανμάρ και στο λεγόμενο λαιμός της καμηλοπάρδαλης, όπου οι γυναίκες της φυλής επιλέγουν να επιμηκύνουν τον λαιμό τους ως μια διαδικασίας καλλωπισμού και ομορφιάς και αποτελεί μια προγονική συνήθεια και παράδοση. Αφετέρου, το ιδιαίτερο χαρακτηριστικό υλικό που χρησιμοποιεί, οι καρφίτσες και ο αιχμηρός τους χαρακτήρας φαίνεται να λειτουργούν ως ένα μέσο καταστολής της ελευθερίας μιας γυναίκας: της ελευθερίας κίνησης, ομιλίας σαν να πρέπει με αυτόν τον τρόπο να της επιβληθούν περιορισμοί.

The mixed media sculpture "XXXL Necklace" by Leonidas Gerontidis provokes ambivalent thoughts in the viewer. On one hand, it probably refers to the Kayan tribe of Myanmar and the so-called giraffe neck, where the women of the tribe choose to elongate their necks as a beautification and beauty procedure and is an ancestral custom and tradition. On the other hand, the particular characteristic material used, the pins and their sharp character seem to function as a means of suppressing a woman's freedom: freedom of movement, speech as if restrictions should be imposed on her in this way.
