Το έργο «Καπέλο», όπως και η πλειοψηφία των έργων ου μετά το 1981 κινείται στο πλαίσιο του σουρεαλισμού. Ο Δασκαλόπουλος ανέπτυξε μια προσωπική φαντασιώδη θεματογραφία, όπου άνω και κάτω άκρα ξεπροβάλλουν από το εσωτερικό ενός καπέλου, στην κορυφή του οποίου αναπαρίσταται ένα αναποδογυρισμένο ψάρι. Οργανώνει τα εικονιστικά στοιχεία σε διάταξη πάνω σε μια μονοχρωματική, μη οριζόμενη, επιφάνεια δημιουργώντας μια σύνθεση που παραπέμπει στις αναζητήσεις του φανταστικού ρεαλισμού.

The work "Hat", like the majority of his works after 1981, moves within the framework of surrealism. Daskalopoulos developed a personal fantasy theme, where upper and lower limbs emerge from inside a hat, on top of which an upside-down fish is represented. He organizes the figurative elements in an arrangement on a monochromatic, undefined, surface, creating a composition that alludes to the pursuits of imaginative realism.
