Το έργο «Σχέδιο για το Τοπίο του Πειραιά με άγαλμα» αποτελεί ένα από τα έργα της πρώτης περιόδου του καλλιτέχνη και μια από τις παραλλαγές του έργου «Τοπίο του Πειραιά». Όπως και στην πλειοψηφία των πρώιμων έργων του της πρώτης σουρεαλιστικής του περιόδου επιχειρεί μια ιδιότυπη διασταύρωση τύπων της αρχαίας ελληνικής και βυζαντινής τέχνης συχνά με σύμβολα και χρωματικές ιδιαιτερότητες που παραπέμπουν στη ζωγραφική του G. De Chirico. Η αντίληψη του χώρου και ο συνολικός σχεδιασμός του περιβάλλοντος μαρτυρά και τη σκηνογραφική του κλίση, ενώ σημείο αναφοράς σχεδόν στο κέντρο της σύνθεσης αποτελεί το άγαλμα, το οποίο στο σχέδιο αυτό απεικονίζεται γυμνό ενώ στην ελαιογραφία του 1944 ντυμένο.

The work "Drawing for the Landscape of Piraeus with a Statue" is one of the works of the artist's first period and one of the variations of the work "Landscape of Piraeus". As in the majority of his early works of his first surrealist period, he attempts a peculiar crossing of types of ancient Greek and Byzantine art often with symbols and chromatic peculiarities that refer to the painting of G. De Chirico. The perception of space and the overall design of the environment also testify to his scenographic inclination, while the statue, which is depicted naked in this drawing and clothed in the oil painting of 1944, is the reference point almost at the centre of the composition.
