The digital collection of the Nikaia Municipal Art Gallery "Dinos Katsafanas" presents representative works from the municipality's art collection, which has been built primarily through donations by Greek artists since 1976.
The collection mainly comprises paintings and prints, as well as drawings, sculptures, and installations, representing the development of modern Greek visual arts throughout the 20th and early 21st centuries. It features works by prominent figures of modern Greek art, including Spyros Vassiliou, Orestis Kanellis, Valias Semertzidis, Yannis Gaitis, Andreas Vourloumis, Grigoris Toufexis, Dimitris Tiniakos, and Yannis Magganaris, alongside younger artists who have enriched the collection through subsequent donations.
The digitised materials document the major trends in modern Greek painting and printmaking while highlighting the close relationship between artistic production, social history, collective memory, and the cultural initiatives of local government.
