Στο Παλιό Μάνεσι, 1000 μ. από τα ερείπια, υπάρχει ένα μεγάλο βάραθρο, που λέγεται Καρκάνα. Η τρύπα έχει πλάτος και μάκρος 4 μέτρα. Το βάθος είναι πολύ. Άμα ρίξην πέτρα, χτυπάει στο βάθος. Εκεί κοντά στο σπήλαιο, στην τοποθεσία, Κρόμπρα, όπως μου έχει ειπή ο πατέρας μου, επολέμησε ο Γεώργιος Λεχουρίτης από το Λεχούρι (χωρίον της Επαρ. Καλαβρύτων) με τον Ιμπραήμ Πασά και σκότωσε 100 Τούρκους και του πασά το άλογο. Λόγω στες υπέρογκες δυνάμεις των Τούρκων, υπεχώρησε ο Λεχουρίτης με τον στρατό του, που ίσως επροστάτευε το Μάνεσι. Δεν είναι παράξενο, αφού κατάλαβε το Μάνεσι, το σπήλαιο αυτό να έχη γίνει ένα νέο Ζάλογγο.
