Δια την νηστείαν των Αγίων Αποστόλων ειςς ελευθέρως πως και μη αρκούμενος εις την νηστείαν ταύτην είπεν, εις εξ αυτών εποίησε μεγάλην τινά αμαρτία, ηδύναντο οι λοιποί να τιμωρήσωσιν αυτόν; Όχι βέβαια. Όθεν συνήλθον μετά ταύτα οι Πατέρες, ίνα μη φανερώσωσι την αμαρτίαν και συνέθεντο την νηστείαν δωδεκαήμερον εις τιμήν των 12 Αποστόλων. Αι δε προστεθείσαι περισσότερας προς εξάλειψιν της αμαρτίας του Αποστόλου ώστε τι με μέλει δια την αμαρτίαν του : 12 ημέρας αρκούν

Οι Εβραίοι πάντοτες κοιτάζουνε να πίνουνε τω χριστιανώ το αίμα. Φοβούνται μήπως, είναι αλήθεια, πως ήρθεν ο Χριστός, γι αυτό κλέβουν τη Μ. Σαρακοστή τεσσάρων χρόνων παιδιά, τα βάζουν μέσα σε βαρέλια που έχουν καρφιά, τα κυλούν, τα κυλούν και τρέχει το αίμα και το πίνουν, για να έχουν κι αυτά χάρη.

Το Σάββατο της Πέμπτης εβδομάδας της Μ. Σαρακοστής πήγαιναν στην εκκλησία και λειτουργούσαν και αργούσαν αυτή την ημέρα, για χάρη της Παναγίας, για τον εξής λόγο : Τον καιρό του Ηρακλείου πήγανε οι Αγαρηνοί να πάρουνε την Πόλη. Ο Ηράκλειος έλειπε ο Πατριάρχης κάλεσε τον κόσμο, στην εκκλησία και ως το πρωί προσεύχονταν ακάθιστοι. Στο λιμάνι της Πόλης ήσανε χίλια καράβια των Αγαρηνών. Η Παναγία άκουσε την προσευχή και το πρωί του Σαββάτου έβγαλεν έναν αέρα δυνατό κι εβούλιαξεν όλα τα καράβια. Έμεινε μόνον ένα, το ελληνικό. Από τότε η ημέρα αυτή ωνομάστηκε «Το χιλιαρμένο της Παναγίας».

Στη Σινώπη, στη γειτονιά τα Τούρκικα ήτανε μια εκκλησία άγιος Φωκάς, την πήραν οι Τούρκοι και την έκαμαν τζαμί. Μέσα στην εκκλησία ήτανε ο τάφος του αγίου Φωκά, αυτός, άγιασε και έβγαινε ένα φώς από τον τάφο κι εσχημάτιζε το πρόσωπο τ' αγίου Φωκά. Οι Τούρκοι σκέπαζαν το μέρος μ' ένα μεγάλο πράσινο πανί και πήγαιναν και προσκυνούσαν.

Στα πηγάδια και στα μνήματα βρίσκονταν απο μάς καλοί (πίτσιλοι και έβγαιναν και πείραζαν τους ανθρώπους. Εκεί που είχαν υποψία πως βρίσκονταν απο μας καλοί πήγαιναν έχυναν νερό και έκοβαν μια μαύρη κότα για να μην τους πειράζουν πια οι πίτσιλοι. (πίτσιλοι ή απο μας καλοί=κακά πνεύματα)

Πολλοί ζώντες διηγούνται ότι συνελήφθησαν υπό βρυκολάκων ή βορδολάκων, όπως τους λέγουσιν είναι αληθές ότι τις ευρέθη ημιμαθής εν υπαίθρω κατάμακρος, όστις διηγείται ότι όντα τινά άλαλα, έχοντα τους πόδας δεδεμένα, συνέλαβαν όπισθεν και έφερον εις αυτών των θεών. Άλλος τις ζών διηγείται ότι εν τη οικία ελθόντων δύο βρυκολάκκων και αποδιωχθέντων ευρέθη το πρωί εις νεκρός οθωμανός όν εξέλαβον ως βρυκόλακα,επομένως ειδοποίησε τον ιμάμην, όστις ελθών δεν παρέλαβεν αυόν, αλλά σκεπάσης ψιαθήν διέταξεν όπως την νύκτα αναχθέση αι θύρας και ούτως έφυγεν ο βρυκόλαξ! Συνήθως εξέρχοντας εκ των τουρκικών μνημάτων και μεταβαίνουσιν εις τας οικίας των αδικούντων αλλά και εις των χριστιανών όθεν γίνονται παρακλήσεις οι δε Τούρκοι κατά συμβουλήν των Χριστιανών διασταυρούσι τα μνήματα από τινων ετών εξέλθεν αύτη η δοξασία οι δε βρυκόλακες δεν φαίνονται.

Σημειώσεως άξιον και το εξής: ότι αι δάφναι διατηρούνται μέχρι της αποδόσεως οπότε λαμβάνονται; το δ’ εσπέρας εκείνο καίουν τινάς τας δε λοιπάς το πρωΐ την παραμονήν του Αγίου Ιωάννου, οπότε πηδώντες οσάκις καίουν άνωθεν λέγουν «να καούνε ψύλλοι μας και τα κορύδια μας». Κατά την παράδοσιν της Σινώπης η δάφνη τίθεται προς καταπάτησιν διότι επ’ αυτών εκρεμάσθη ο Ιούδας, διατηρούνται 40 ημέρας όπως γίνηται κατάδηλος η αθλιότης του προδόντος θεόν ζώντα και οπτανόμενον και συναναστρεφόμενον.

Την Μ. Πέμπτη η Κλαυδία, η γυναίκα του Πιλάτου κατέβηκε στο ζούμο για να μαζέψη τα αυγά της. Γέμισε την ποδιά της αυγά και είπεν: Αν αυτά τ’ αυγά γίνουν κόκκινα τότε θα πιστέψω πως ο Χριστός είναι αληθινός και ώ! Του θαύματος έγιναν κόκκινα τ’ αυγά. Τότε πήγε στον άντρα της και του είπε: « Ο Χριστός είναι αληθινός». [ζούμο= κοτέτσι]

Γυνή της μαία, γκομένη και αυτάς παράλυτος διηγείται ότι νύχτηρ κοιμωμένην οι πίτζιλοι έρριψαν απο το παράθυρον είναι αληθές ότι ευρέθη την νύκτα έξω αναίσθητος υποκάτω του παραθύρου. Σημ. Πίτσιλος= όντα τκά νυκτός μόνον φαννόμενα, άτυτα τρώγουσι το τιμάχιον της βασιλόπηττας, το σθ. Αλειμμένον με βουτυρόμελι θέτουν κατά το εσπέρας της πρωτοχρονιάς, πλησίον του σπλήνος των βρύσεων.

Στον Αϊ-Γιώργη τοπ. στο ακρωτήριο της Σινώπης. Ήτο βράχος υψηλός και απότομος. Γύρω από το βράχο ήτανε στενό μονοπάτι. Το περνούσαν με φόβο και με τρόμο, αλλά ο άγιος δεν άφηνε να πέσουν. Λέγουν πως άνθρωποι πολύ πιστοί το περνούσαν με άλογο. Τον παλιό καιρό πήγαιναν στο βράχο αυτό κι έκαναν αγιασμό και διάβαζαν και παρακλήσεις.

Η Σινώπη έχει γύρω γύρω μεγάλο κάστρο. Λένε το έχτισε μια βασίλισσα και δεν έφτασαν τα λεφτά της και πούλησε και το σινί της. Είχε ένα χρυσό σινί, γι’ αυτό ωνομάσθηκε Σινώπη. [βλ. οίκος γ. 1141 σ.101]
