Από τις επιγραφές προκύπτει ότι απεικονίζεται η Ναυμαχία της Μεθώνης κατά την 30 Απριλίου 1825. Η μοίρα του Υδραϊκού στόλου υπό τον ναύαρχο Ανδρέα Μιαούλη με καπετάνιους τον Κριεζή και τον Μπελεμπίνη επιτείθεται κατά του εχθρικού στόλου των Τουρκοαιγύπτιων που ήταν αγκυροβολημένοι στην Μεθώνη. Πυρπολήθηκαν μία φρεγάτα, τρία κορβέτα, τρία διάφορα πολέμικα και τρία φορτηγά.

From the inscriptions it appears that the Naval Battle of Methoni is depicted on April 30, 1825. The squadron of the Hydra fleet under Admiral Andreas Miaoulis with captains Kriezis and Belebini attacks the enemy Turkish-Egyptian fleet anchored in Methoni. One frigate, three corvettes, three various men-of-war and three freighters were set on fire.
