Ο «ιστός» της αποτελούνταν από δύο γιγάντια ξύλα σε σχήμα Λ. Η άρθρωσή της εξασφαλιζόταν από δύο βαθουλώματα στο έδαφος. Η σταθεροποίησή της σε διάφορες κλίσεις επιτυγχανόταν από δύο «επίτονους» (σχοινιά) που τανύονταν με πολύσπαστα και χειροκίνητα βαρούλκα έλξης. Το φορτίο ανυψωνόταν ή καταβιβαζόταν με τη βοήθεια «τρίσπαστου» και ενός οριζόντιου άξονα, του «πηνίου» όπου τυλιγόταν το σχοινί ανύψωσης του φορτίου και περιστρεφόταν με τη βοήθεια κινητών μοχλοβραχιόνων (γύρω από ειδικά έδρανα, τα «χελώνια» που προσαρμόζονταν πάνω στις δοκούς του ιστού). Για τη μείωση των τριβών ο άξονας έφερε εκατέρωθεν δύο μικρούς μεταλλικούς αξονίσκους που περιστρέφονταν εντός ειδικών υποδοχών των «χελωνίων».

Its “mast” consisted of two giant pieces of wood in the form of Λ. Its articulation was ensured by two dents in the horizontal mounting base. Its stabilization in various inclinations was achieved by two balancing ropes that were tautened with block and tackles and the rear winch (via removable lever arms). The load was lifted or lowered with the help of two lifting ropes, the “trispaston” pulley and a winch with a horizontal axle, the “reel”, where the rope for lifting the load was wrapped and rotated (around special bearings, “tortoise – like cases” that were fitted on the mast) with the help of fixed radial lever arms. The rear winch was also essential for lifting and lowering the mast itself at the beginning and the end of work. The friction between the ends of the axles of the winches and points on the bases ensured their easy stabilization. The crane was mounted on rollers for its sideward shifting.
