ΒΙΟΜΗΧΑΝΙΚΗ ΕΓΚΑΤΑΣΤΑΣΗ- Η δεύτερη σε μέγεθος μετά τον Κάμπο του Γιαλού, περιοχή ναυπήγησης και επισκευής ξύλινων σκαφών στην Σύμη, βρίσκεται στο βόρειο άκρο του οικισμού, σε ένα καλά προστατευμένο κόλπο. Η φυσιογνωμία της παραλίας ήταν από την αρχή ενδεδειγμένη για την ανέλκυση-καθέλκυση σκαφών. Στον χώρο ναυπήγησης, υπήρχαν αρχικά μικρά πρόχειρα ξύλινα –παράγκες-η πέτρινα εργαστήρια «καραβομαραγκών» , που στις αρχές του 20ου αιώνα εξελίχθηκαν σε κανονικά λιθόκτιστα μονώροφα ή διώροφα κτίσματα. Τα σκάφη που ναυπηγούνταν εδώ ήσαν κυρίως βάρκες και μικρά αλιευτικά καΐκια. Η κύρια δραστηριότητα όμως ήταν η επισκευή των σκαφών μετά το πέρας της αλιευτικής περιόδου, δηλαδή από τέλη Οκτωβρίου μέχρι τέλη Μαρτίου. Σήμερα η δραστηριότητα είναι περιορισμένη και αφορά κυρίως επισκευές και κατασκευή μικρών λέμβων. Στο χώρο ναυπήγησης μέχρι την δεκαετία του 1970 υπήρχε ο «εργάτης» απαραίτητη μόνιμη κατασκευή για την ανέλκυση των σκαφών.

INDUSTRIAL FACILITY - The second largest, after Kampos tou Gialou, area for building and repairing wooden boats in Symi, is located at the northern end of the settlement, in a well-protected bay. The physiognomy of the beach was suitable from the beginning for the lifting and launching of boats. In the shipbuilding area, there were initially small wooden shacks or stone workshops of "ship carpenters", which at the beginning of the 20th century evolved into regular stone-built one- or two-storey buildings. The vessels that were built here were mainly boats and small fishing boats. But the main activity was the repair of the boats after the end of the fishing season, that is from the end of October to the end of March. Today the activity is limited and mainly concerns repairs and construction of small boats. In the shipyard until the 1970s there was the "worker" necessary permanent construction for the lifting of the boats.
