Σε μικρή απόσταση, ΝΑ του χωριού Κεφαλόβρυσο (πρώην Χαλβάτσου), βρέθηκε τυχαία κατά τη διενέργεια εργασιών με σκαπτικό μηχάνημα ένας Μυκηναϊκός Θολωτός τάφος στην τοποθεσία «Παλιόμυλος». Ο τάφος είναι μικρών διαστάσεων κτισμένος σαν κυψέλη: έχει διάμετρο 3,20 μ. και μέγιστο ύψος 2,50 μ. Δεν είχε δρόμο και στόμιο, όπως άλλοι μεσσηνιακοί τάφοι του είδους του.Είχε χρησιμοποιηθεί για ταφές μιας οικογένειας. Από πλευράς κτερισμάτων εντοπίστηκαν λίγα χειροποίητα και τροχήλατα αγγεία, μερικές χάλκινες χάντρες, πήλινα σφονδύλια και ορισμένα οστέινα αντικείμενα. Ο τάφος χρονολογείται με βάση τα ευρήματα αυτά γύρω στο -1500 (ΥΕII περίοδος). (EL)
At a small distance to the NE of the village Kefalovryso (forme Halvatso) there was accidentaly found, during excavation works a Mycenaean Tholos tomb at the site "Paliomylos". The tomb is of small dimensions built in the beehive style: it has a diameter of 3,20 m. and height 2.5 m. It did not have a dromos and a stomion like other Messenian tombs. It was used for the members of a single family. A few handmade and wheelmade pieces of pottery were discovered as well as a few bronze beads and clay spindle whorls as well as some objects made of bone. The tomb was dated according to these finds at about 1500/ LH II period. (EN)
