Στην Π.Ο.Τ.Α Ρωμανού ανασκάφηκε Μυκηναϊκός Θολωτός τάφος, που χρονολογείται περί το 1600 π.Χ., συλημένος ήδη από την αρχαιότητα, ο οποίος περιείχε τουλάχιστον έξι ταφές. Μεταξύ των οστών ξεχώρισαν δύο κεφαλές αλόγων, οι οποίες μαρτυρούν ότι ένας τουλάχιστον από τους νεκρούς, ενδεχομένως πολεμιστής, τάφηκε μαζί με τα αγαπημένα του ζώα. Βρέθηκαν ωστόσο και οστά ελαφιού, προβάτου και κατσικιού, που μάλλον συνδέονται με προσφορές στο νεκρό. Μεταξύ των ελάχιστων κτερισμάτων που βρέθηκαν συγκαταλέγονται μια χάλκινη σφαιρική πυξίδα με πώμα, μια χάλκινη τριχολαβίδα και ένα κεραμικό κύπελλο τύπου Βαφειού. (EL)
A Mycenaean tholos tomb, dated to ca. 1600 B.C., was excavated at P.O.T.A Romanou. It had been looted already in antiquity, and contained at least six burials. Among the bones stood out two horse-heads which attest to the fact that at least one of the deceased, probably a warrior, was buried along with his favourite animals. However, bones of deer, lamb and goat were also discovered, probably related to offers and dinners in honour of the deceased. Among the vere few grave goods discovered in the tomb count a bronze round pyxis with lide, a bronze set of tweezers and a pottery cup of the Keftiu type. (EN)
