Hippocrates thanks to his experimental way of examining things and drawing conclusions verified by reality achieved, for the first time in the history of human kind to formulate a complete theory about diet, according to the criteria of his era. On the other hand, his views on the individuality of man as for the equilibrium of the humours within the human body, the properties of the environment and on the effect of the diet upon the sick are realistic and of indisputable value. In conclusion, Hippocrates΄ views and mainly those on diet, as well as his incomparable sensitivity combined with the utmost exactness prove the greatness of his philosophical thought.
