Naousa, September 1944. The legendary British captain Billy Moss, a symbol of the struggle against the Nazis, who captured the German general Kraippe in Crete—a subject that was made into a film and books—together with the interpreter Dimitris Petrou. (Kraippe's kidnapping was one of the most fascinating acts of World War II by a group of brave resistance fighters). The photograph was taken by Captain Geoffrey Chandler (1921–2011), who acted as a saboteur against the Germans in Northern Greece and was in Naousa on the day of the German withdrawal. In his book 'DIvided Land', he describes the situation in Greece in 1943–46, emphasizing the divisions and mutual fanaticism that led to the Civil War.

Ο θρυλικός βρετανός λοχαγός Billy Moss, σύμβολο του αγώνα κατά των ναζί, που συνέλαβε στην Κρήτη τον Γερμανό στρατηγό Κράϊπε-θέμα που έγινε ταινία και βιβλία-μαζί με τον διερμηνέα Δημήτρη Πέτρου. (Η απαγωγή του Κραϊπε ήταν μια από τις πιο συναρπαστικές πράξεις του Β΄ Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου από μια ομάδα γενναίων αγωνιστών της αντίστασης). Τη φωτογραφία τράβηξε ο λοχαγός Τζέφρι Τσάντλερ (1921-2011) που έδρασε ως σαμποτέρ κατά των Γερμανών στη Βόρειο Ελλάδα και ήταν στη Νάουσα την ημέρα της αποχώρησης των Γερμανών. Στο βιβλίο του “Διχασμένη χώρα» (DIvided Land) περιγράφει την κατάσταση στην Ελλάδα 1943-46 δίνοντας έμφαση στο διχασμό και τον εκατέρωθεν φανατισμό που οδηγούσε στον Εμφύλιο πόλεμο.
