Ein Spinnrad ist eine Vorrichtung zum Spinnen von Fäden oder Garn aus Fasern. Es war von grundlegender Bedeutung für die Baumwolltextilindustrie vor der industriellen Revolution. Sie legte den Grundstein für spätere Maschinen wie Spinning Jenny und Spinning Frame, die das Spinnrad während der Industriellen Revolution verdrängten. Dies ist ein traditionelles Spinnrad in der Sammlung und Werkstatt des Hauses der Seidenkultur. (DE)
A spinning wheel is a device for spinning thread or yarn from fibres. It was fundamental to the cotton textile industry prior to the Industrial Revolution. It laid the foundations for later machinery such as the spinning jenny and spinning frame, which displaced the spinning wheel during the Industrial Revolution. This is a traditional spinning wheel at the collection and workshop of Haus der Seidenkultur. (EN)
