Τα έργα του Νίκου Σαχίνη της δεκαετίας του 1960 κινούνται στο πλαίσιο του αφηρημένου εξπρεσιονισμού και επιβάλλονται με την ένταση των χρωματικών επιφανειών και των γραμμικών στοιχείων, τους σκοτεινούς τόνους, τον επεκτατικό χώρο.
Κατά τις δεκαετίες του 1970 και 1980 η ζωγραφική του συνδυάζει παραστατικά και αφηρημένα στοιχεία, οι συνθέσεις του έχουν ως θέμα την ανθρώπινη μορφή και τη νεκρή φύση, ενώ εμφανής είναι η μνημειακότητα, η αρχιτεκτονημένη δομή και η χρησιμοποίηση καλλιγραφικών τύπων και γραφισμών.

The works of Nikos Sachinis of the 1960s move within the framework of abstract expressionism and impose the intensity of the colour surfaces and linear elements, the dark tones, the expansive space.
During the 1970s and 1980s his painting combines figurative and abstract elements, his compositions are based on the human figure and still life, while monumentality, architectural structure and the use of calligraphic forms and graphs are evident.
