The Thessaloniki International Film Festival highlights the past, present and future of both the Greek and international cinema through its main large annual events - the Thessaloniki International Film Festival held in November and the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival–Images of the 21st Century held in March-, as well as a rich range of activities throughout the year. In this framework, TIFF presents a number of film tributes hosted at its main theatres (Olympion and Pavlos Zannas) in Thessaloniki and also in other Greek cities, via its Regional Events. Since 2011, the Cinema Museum of Thessaloniki –merged with TIFF since December, 2010- is one of the country’s most active cultural institutions. In addition, the Thessaloniki Cinematheque (part of the Cinema Museum) inaugurated in November 2012, hosts films screenings on a weekly basis, while TIFF’s Film Library which opened in March 2013, contains 15,000 titles of cinema books and magazines. Moreover, TIFF’s annual activity includes a series of educational programs suitable for children and adolescents.
