The Literary Society was found on 24 June 1865, under the name “Parnassos”, by the four children of the numismatist Pavlos Lamprou. According to Greek mythology, Parnassos was sacred to Apollo and the home of Muses. The Society, from its early years, played a crucial role in the spiritual life of the country and soon emerged as a cultural society with imposing presence. Nowadays “Parnassos”, walking in the footsteps of the past, continues its spiritual tradition and has multidimensional effect on the scientific, cultural and other spheres. Scientific conferences, workshops and seminars on philosophical, social, historical, etc. subjects, art exhibitions and music performances are part and parcel of the current life of “Parnassos”, stimulating the spiritual affairs of Greece.
