Στη θέση του σημερινού Μαλανδρίνου στην αρχαιότητα βρισκόταν η πόλη Φύσκος των Εσπερίων Λοκρών. Στα νότια του χωριού έχουν εντοπιστεί αρχαιότητες της κλασικής και ελληνιστικής περιόδου, ιδιαίτερα τμήματα των οχυρώσεων και κάποια λιγοστά κατάλοιπα του ναού της Αθηνάς. Η περιοχή έχει δώσει πλούσιο επιγραφικό υλικό, μέρος του οποίου έχει εντοιχιστεί στα σπίτια του σύγχρονου χωριού.

At the site of present-day Malandrino was located the ancient city Physkos, capital of the Hesperian Locrians. To the south of the village have been locatd antiquities of the classical and Hellenistic period, particularly parts of the fortifications and some few traces of the temple of Athena. The area has yielded rich epigraphic material, part of which has been incorporatd in houses of the modern village.

Sur le site de l'actuel Malandrino était situé la ville ancienne de Physkos, capitale des Locriens de l'Ouest. Au sud du village se trouvent des vestiges antiques de l'époque classique et hellénistique, en particulier les parties des fortifications et quelques peu de traces du temple d'Athéna. La region a donné du matériel épigraphique, dont une partie a été incorporé dans des maisons du village moderne.
