Οι περιοχές της Λίλαιας και του Πολύδροσου ανήκαν στο βόρειο μέρος της Φωκίδας, κοντά στις πηγές του ποταμού Κηφισού, σε κομβικό σημείο που συνέδεε τη Θεσσαλία με τη νότια Ελλάδα. Το όνομα της Λιλαίας οφείλεται στη νύμφη Λίλαια, κόρη του Κηφισού. Μετά την καταστροφή των φωκικών πόλεων το 346 π.Χ. από το Φίλιππο Β΄, η Λίλαια συνοικίσθηκε με τον Έρωχο, που ταυτίζεται με το λόφο του Αγίου Βασιλείου. Τα τείχη της χρονολογούνται πιθανότατα μετά το Φίλιππο, ενώ δείγματα παλαιότερης οχύρωσης σώζονται στην κορυφή της ακρόπολης.

Lilaia and Polydrodo belonged to the north part of Phokis, close to the sources of the river Kephissus. It was named after the nymph Lilaia, daughter of the deified Kephissus. After the destruction of the cities of Phokis in 346 by Philip II, Lilaia was joined with Erochos, identified with the hill of Agios Vassileios. The walls of the city date possibly in the post-Philip period, whereas remains of an older fortification are preserved on the top of the acropolis.

Lilaia et Polydrodo appartenaient à la partie nord de Phokis, à proximité des sources de la rivière Céphissus. Il a été nommé d'après la nymphe Lilaia, fille du Céphissus déifié. Apres la destruction des villes de Phokis en 346 par Philippe II, Lilaia a été unie avec Erochos, identifié avec la colline de Agios Vassileios. Les murs de la ville date probablement dans la période apres Philippe, tandis que des vestiges d'une fortification plus ancienne sont conservés sur le sommmet de l'Acropole.
