Άποψη των λατομείων του προφήτη Ηλία, Δ του αρχαιολογικού χώρου των Δελφών, στον ομώνυμο λόφο. Από τα λατομεία αυτά προερχόταν ένας ασβεστόλιθος μεγάλης σκληρότητας με απόχρωση γκρι-μπλε. Λόγω του χρώματος και της υφής του ο ασβεστόλιθος αυτός χρησιμοποιήθηκε σε πολλά μνημεία των Δελφών, προκειμένου νε δημιουργηθεί έντονο διακοσμητικό αποτέλεσμα καθώς ερχόταν σε αντίθεση με το λευκό μάρμαρο.

View of the quarries of St. Elias, to the W of the archaeological site of Delphi, on the hill with the same name. From these quarries came a hard limestone, in a grey-bluish colour. Due to this colour that limestone was used in many monuments in Delphi, in order to contrast the whiteness of the marble.

Vue des carrières de Saint-Élie, a l'ouest du site archéologique de Delphes, sur la colline du même nom. De ces carrières provenat un calcaire dur et gris-bleuâtre. A cause de sa couleur et consistence, ce calcaire-ci a été employé a plusieurs monuments de Delphes, car il contrastait le blanc du marbre.
