Σε λόφο περίπου 8 χιλιόμετρα βόρεια της Κυπαρισσίας, στη θέση Ελληνικό Μουριατάδας, ανασκάφηκε από τον Μαρινάτο μυκηναϊκό μέγαρο και εντοπίστηκαν ίχνη οικισμού της Υστεροελλαδικής ΙΙΙ Β περιόδου. Επιπλέον, βρέθηκε και θολωτός τάφος, περίπου 200 μέτρα ΒΑ του οικισμού, σε πλαγιά λόφου. Ο τάφος ήταν σχετικά μικρών διαστάσεων (μήκος δρόμου 3,10 μέτρα, ύψος θύρας 1,80 μέτρα, πλάτος θύρας περίπου 1 μέτρο).
Ο Μαρινάτος ταύτισε τη θέση με την ομηρική Αμφιγένεια, μια από τις 8 μεγαλύτερες πόλεις του βασιλείου του Νέστορα.

At a distance of about 8 klms north of Kyparissia, at a site called Elliniko close to Mouriatada was excavated by Marinatos a Mycenaean megaron and was located a settlement of the Late Helladic IIB period. Furthermore a tholos tomb was discovered about 200 m NE of the settlement, on the slope of a hill. The tomb was of relatively small dimensions (length of dromos 3,10 m., height of entrance 1,80 m., width of entrance about 1 m.).
Marinatos identified this site with the Homeric Amphigeneia, one of the 8 largest cities of the kingdom of Nestor.
