Στο Διδασκαλείο Κρήτης στο Ηράκλειο λειτουργούσε δανειστική βιβλιοθήκη από την έναρξη της λειτουργίας του το 1901. Επρόκειτο για μια πολύ σημαντική υπηρεσία, που παρείχε μορφωτικά μέσα στους σπουδαστές και τις σπουδάστριες της εποχής. Άλλωστε, στα πρώτα χρόνια λειτουργίας του Διδασκαλείου δεν είχε ακόμη ιδρυθεί στο Ηράκλειο δημοτική βιβλιοθήκη, η οποία ιδρύθηκε το 1908. Στον τελευταίο σωζόμενο συγκεντρωτικό κατάλογο βιβλίων του Διδασκαλείου εντοπίστηκαν 666 τίτλοι, ενταγμένοι σε 5 Ταξιθετικές Κατηγορίες (Τ.Κ.): α. Γράμματα - Επιστήμαι – Τέχναι. β. Επιστημονικά. γ. Ελεύθερα αναγνώσματα. δ. Βοηθητικά. ε. Διδακτικά. Η ανωτέρω ταξινόμηση δεν αντιστοιχούσε σε κάποια αυστηρή θεματική κατηγοριοποίηση με δεδομένο ότι ορισμένα βιβλία ίδιας θεματικής ταξινομήθηκαν σε διαφορετικές Τ.Κ..
Η Τ.Κ. «Επιστημονικά» περιελάμβανε βιβλία που αφορούσαν θέματα παιδαγωγικά, ψυχολογίας, διδακτικής και ειδικής διδακτικής ποικίλων γνωστικών αντικειμένων, λαογραφίας, ιστορίας, αρχαίας ελληνικής γραμματείας, καθώς και ξένη λογοτεχνία.
Το βιβλίο ''Η έννοια της αγωγής του πολίτη'' ανήκε στην κατηγορία «Επιστημονικά» της δανειστικής βιβλιοθήκης του Διδασκαλείου Κρήτης στο Ηράκλειο. Πρόκειται για εγχειρίδιο που αναφέρεται στις ιδέες του Βαυαρού παιδαγωγού Georg Kerschensteiner πάνω στο θέμα της αγωγής του πολίτη, όπως προέκυψαν από την εισήγηση που είχε δώσει το 1909 σε επιστημονικό συνέδριο στο Βερολίνο. Ο Georg Kerschensteiner (1854-1932) ήταν ένας από τους θεμελιωτές του Σχολείου Εργασίας. Το κείμενο της παρούσας τρίτης έκδοσης συνιστά μια συμπληρωμένη εκδοχή των δύο προηγούμενων. Στο βιβλίο προσεγγίζεται το φαινόμενο της αγωγής του πολίτη, αναφορικά με τις κοινωνικές συνθήκες και το πολιτισμικό και ιστορικό πλαίσιο που υφίσταται και ως προς την έκφραση της ιδιότητας του πολίτη στη σχολική κοινότητα. Βασική αρχή του συγγραφέα είναι ότι η αγωγή του πολίτη είναι πρωτίστως αγωγή χαρακτήρων με σκοπό την ένταξη του ατόμου στην υπηρεσία της κοινότητας. Ο μεταφραστής του Georg Kerschensteiner, Ευάγγελος Κακούρος (1886-1943), μέλος του Εκπαιδευτικού Ομίλου και υπέρμαχος της δημοτικής γλώσσας, συνέταξε εκτενή πρόλογο, παρουσιάζοντας βιογραφικά στοιχεία του παιδαγωγού και σκιαγραφώντας το έργο του.

A lending library was operated in the Didaskaleion of Crete in Heraklion since the beginning of its establishment in 1901. It was a very important facility, which provided educational tools to the students of that time. After all, in the first years of the operation of the Didaskaleion, a municipal library had not yet been established in Heraklion. The municipal library was founded in 1908. In the last surviving consolidated list of books of the Didaskaleion, 666 titles were found, included in 5 Classification Categories (C.C.): a. Letters - Science - Art. b. Scientific. c. Free readings. d. Ancillary. e. Didactic. The above classification did not correspond to any strict thematic categorization given that some books of the same subject were classified in different C.C..
The C.C. "Scientific" included books dealing with pedagogy, psychology, general didactic and didactics about specific subjects, folklore, history, ancient Greek literature, as well as foreign literature.
The book ''The Concept of Civic Education'' belonged to the "Scientific" category of the lending library of the Didaskaleion of Crete in Heraklion. This is a book that refers to the ideas of the Bavarian pedagogue Georg Kerschensteiner on the subject of civic education, as they emerged from the presentation he had given in 1909 at a scientific conference in Berlin. Georg Kerschensteiner (1854-1932) was one of the founders of the work school. The text of the present third edition constitutes a completed version of the two previous ones. The book examines the phenomenon of citizenship education in relation to the social conditions and the cultural and historical context that exists. It also examines how this is perceived and expressed within the school community. The author's basic principle is that civic education is primarily character education for the purpose of integrating the individual into the service of the community. Evangelos Kakouros (1886-1943), Georg Kerschensteiner's translator, member of the Educational Group and advocate of the Greek dimotiki language, wrote a lengthy preface, presenting biographical details of the educator and outlining his work.

Une bibliothèque de prêtfonctionnait à Didaskalio (École pour la formation des enseignants) de Crète à Héraklion depuis son ouverture en 1901. C’était un service très important qui fournissait des supports et outils pédagogiques aux étudiants et aux étudiantes de l’époque. D’ailleurs, pendant les premières années de fonctionnement de Didaskalio, il n’y avait pas de bibliothèque municipale à Héraklion ; celle-ci a été fondée en 1908. Dans le dernier dernier catalogueré capitulatif de livres de Didaskalio qui a été retrouvé, 666 titres d’ouvrages ont été identifiés et ceux-ci étaient classés en 5 catégories : a. Lettres–Sciences – Arts. b. Ouvrages scientifiques. c. Lectures libres. d. Guides pratiques. e. Livres de didactique/ manuels scolaires. La classification présentée ci-dessus ne correspondait pas à une catégorisation stricte, étant donné que certains ouvrages de la même thématique avaient été classés en catégories différentes.
La catégorie «Ouvrages scientifiques» contenait des livres qui traitaient des sujets de pédagogie, de psychologie, de didactique générale et des didactiques des différentes disciplines, du folklore, de l’histoire, de la littérature grecque de l’Antiquité, ainsi que de la littérature étrangère.
Le livre ''La notion de l’éducation civique'' appartenait à la catégorie «Ouvrages scientifiques» de la bibliothèque de prêt de Didaskalio (École pour la formation des enseignants) de Crète à Héraklion. Il porte sur les idées du pédagogue bavarois Georg Kerschensteiner concernant l’éducation civique ; ces idées sont issues de la conférence qu’il avait donnée lors d’un congrès scientifique à Berlin en 1909. Georg Kerschensteiner (1854-1932) était l’un des fondateurs de l’«École du travail». L’auteur a apporté des compléments à la troisième édition de son ouvrage La notion de l’éducation civique. Dans ce livre, on aborde la notion d’éducation civique, en relation avec les conditions sociales et le contexte culturel et historique qui l’influencent et en relation avec l’expression de la citoyenneté au sein de la communauté scolaire. Le principe de base de l’auteur du livre est que l’éducation civique renvoie avant tout à la formation du caractère des personnes, ayant comme but l’intégration des individus dans la communauté. Le traducteur de l’ouvrage, Evangelos Kakouros (1886-1943), était membre du Club Éducatif de Grèce (association fondée par des écrivains, des éducateurs et des politiciens) et défenseur de la langue démotique (grec moderne, langue populaire parlée). Dans ce livre, le traducteur a écrit une longue préface présentant la biographie du pédagogue Georg Kerschensteiner et décrivant son œuvre.
