Ιστορικό Σημείωμα: Το έμβλημα του Βασιλείου της Γαλλίας, ο εστεμμένος θυρεός με τα εραλδικά κρινάνθεμα (τρία από το 1376), βρίσκεται στα τείχη του κάστρου της Κω, ακριβώς επάνω από το οικόσημο του (γαλλικής επίσης καταγωγής) Ιωαννίτη ιππότη Adimaro du Puy (Dupuy), διοικητή των νήσων Κω, Καλύμνου και Λέρου. Ενδεχομένως τέθηκε προς τιμήν του Λουδοβίκου ΙΑ' (1461-1483), ο θυρεός του οποίου κοσμεί επίσης τον πύργο του μόλου στη Ρόδο, λόγω της οικονομικής ενίσχυσης που προσέφερε για την ανοικοδόμησή του (1465). Historical Notice: Τhe well-known emblem of the Kingdom of France, bearing the fleurs-de-lis (three since 1376), is posed on the walls of the castle of Kos, just above the coat-of-arms of the French knight hospitaller Adimaro du Puy (Dupuy), commander of the islands of Kos, Kalymnos and Leros. Its presence possibly honours Louis XI (1461-1483), whose arms are also to be found on the Molos tower of Rodos, since he co-financed its construction (1465). (EN)
