Ιστορικό Σημείωμα: Ιταλικός οίκος ευγενών από τη Ρώμη, που έδωσε μεταξύ των άλλων τρεις Ρωμαιοκαθολικούς πάπες, δεκατρείς καρδιναλίους και αρκετούς στρατιωτικούς και πολιτικούς αξιωματούχους της Ιταλίας. Ο εικονιζόμενος θυρεός ανήκει στο Μεγάλο Μάγιστρο του Τάγματος του Οσπιταλίου του Αγίου Ιωάννου της Ιερουσαλήμ, Giovanni Battista degli Orsini. Υπενθυμίζεται ότι η Κως παρέμεινε υπό την κυριαρχία των Ιωαννιτών από τις αρχές του 14ου αιώνα μέχρι το 1522. (EL)

Historical Notice: Italian noble family from Rome, including three Roman Catholic Popes (12th, 13th and 18th c.), thirteen cardinals and various military and political personalities. The arms presented here belong to the Grand Master of the Order of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem, Giovanni Battista degli Orsini. Kos was occupied by the Hospitallers from the beginning of the 14th century to 1522. (EN)
