Ιστορικό Σημείωμα: Οίκος Βενετών πατρικίων, που έδωσε μεταξύ των άλλων τρεις δόγηδες της Βενετίας (16ος και 18ος αι.) και τέσσερις δούκες της Κρήτης (15ος και 16ος αι.). Ένας κλάδος του εγκαταστάθηκε στο Αιγαίο τον 15ο αιώνα και για ένα διάστημα εξουσίασε την Αντίπαρο. Το συγκεκριμένο οικόσημο βρίσκεται σε επιτύμβια πλάκα επί του δαπέδου της Καθολικής Μητρόπολης στο Κάστρο της Νάξου και παρουσιάζει ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον, καθώς συνοδεύεται από ένα θυρεΐσκο με το οικόσημο των Κρίσπι στην κορυφή (ακριβέστερα: αντί περικεφαλαίας). Ο συνδυασμός αυτός (που εμφανίζεται και σε ανάλογο οικόσημο στο αρχοντικό Μαραγκού-Λορεντάνο) υποδηλώνει τις σχέσεις επιγαμίας μεταξύ των δύο οικογενειών. (EL)

Historical Notice: Venetian patrician house, including three doges of Venice (16th and 18th c.) and four dukes of Crete (15th and 16th c.). A branch of the same family was established in the Archipelago in the 15th century, and later ruled for a while the island of Antiparos. This particular coat-of-arms is engraved on a tombstone inside the Catholic Cathedral, in the citadel of Naxos. The presence in chief (or rather instead of a helmet) of an escutcheon with the coat-of-arms of the Crispi family, reflects the intermarriages between the two houses. (EN)
