Institution : Veria Central Public Library

“Medusa,” the digital repository of the Public Central Library of Veria, is a continuously expanding digital library that brings together and showcases the intellectual, historical, and cultural production of Veria, the wider region of Imathia, and beyond. The collection comprises a broad and diverse body of material, with a strong emphasis on two-dimensional graphic material and photographs that document the social and cultural life of the region. At the same time, a substantial corpus of textual material—including newspapers, periodicals, articles, and books—forms a valuable archive of local history and intellectual activity.

In addition, the repository includes three-dimensional objects and works of art, such as toys, tools, household items, and handicrafts, as well as cartographic material, reflecting aspects of everyday life and material culture. Its sub-collections—such as the Photographic and Audiovisual Archive, collections of printed material and books, and thematic units featuring historical material from the 11th century to the present—form a layered and multifaceted knowledge resource.

“Medusa” functions as an open gateway to local memory and identity, supporting research, education, and the dissemination of cultural heritage in the digital environment.
