The digital collection of the Public Central Library of Lixouri on SearchCulture comprises 454 items dating from 1629 to 2000, highlighting aspects of the intellectual, ecclesiastical, and social history of Kefalonia and the Ionian Islands.
The main body of the collection consists of manuscripts, letters, documents, speeches, and lectures, offering valuable documentation on the history of the Typaldos-Iakovatos family, the Ionian Academy, and the Theological School of Halki. In addition, the collection includes studies, notes, poems, and diaries that shed light on the intellectual and literary production of the period.
The collection is further enriched by religious artworks, paintings — primarily family portraits and portrait paintings — as well as liturgical objects, ecclesiastical vestments, clerical jewelry, pastoral staffs, and other material culture artifacts reflecting the ecclesiastical tradition of the Ionian Islands. Through this multifaceted archival and museum material, the contribution of significant scholars and ecclesiastical figures of the Greek world is highlighted, alongside the historical trajectory of Kefalonia from the 17th to the 20th century.
