Η Φιλαρμονική Ένωση Καποδίστριας ανήκει στους σημαντικότερους μουσικούς και πολιτιστικούς οργανισμούς της Κέρκυρας και φέρει το όνομα του πρώτου κυβερνήτη της Ελλάδας. Ιδρύθηκε το 1980 και στεγάζεται στην οδό Αγίων Πατέρων 13. Πρωτοεμφανίστηκε την Πρωτοχρονιά του 1981 με αρχιμουσικούς τον Χαρίλαο Μανιατόπουλο και τον Γεώργιο Περούλη. Στους χώρους της λειτουργούν τμήματα θεωρητικών μαθημάτων, καθώς και ξύλινων και χάλκινων πνευστών και κρουστών. Η Φιλαρμονική διαθέτει μπαντίνα (νεανική μπάντα), ορχήστρα ελαφράς και ποικίλης μουσικής, μπάντα επίδειξης (που παρουσιάζει εντυπωσιακούς σχηματισμούς κατά την απόδοση των μουσικών έργων) και σύνολο χάλκινων πνευστών (brassensemble). Η μπάντα λαμβάνει μέρος στις εθνικές εορτές και στις τοπικές εκδηλώσεις, παρελάσεις, λιτανείες και δοξολογίες, ενώ διοργανώνει συναυλίες σε διάφορους χώρους εντός και εκτός της Κέρκυρας. Η στολή της περιλαμβάνει κόκκινο σακάκι, μαύρο παντελόνι με κόκκινο σιρίτι και ορειχάλκινη περικεφαλαία με κόκκινα φτερά. Στη Φιλαρμονική Καποδίστριας συμμετέχουν άτομα ανεξαρτήτως ηλικίας, μορφωτικού ή βιοτικού επιπέδου και η διδασκαλία παρέχεται αφιλοκερδώς. The Philharmonic Association “Kapodistrias” has been listed among the most important music and cultural institutions of Corfu and bears the name of the first governor of Greece. It was founded in 1980 and has its seat on 13 Agion Pateron St. It first appeared on New Year\'s Day in 1981 with Charilaos Maniatopoulos and Georgios Peroulis as chief musicians. Classes of theory, wood and brass wind instruments and percussion take place in its premises. The Philharmonic Society comprises a band (youth band), a light and varied music orchestra, a demonstration band (which presents impressive formations during the performance of musical works) and a brass ensemble. The band takes part in national celebrations and local events, parades, processions and praising, while performing concerts at various venues in Corfu island and other regions. The band’s uniform comprises a red jacket, black trousers with red piping and a brass helmet with a red plume. The Kapodistrias Philharmonic band is attended by people of all ages, educational or living standards and teaching is free of charge.
