Ο φορητός υπολογιστής IBM 5155, μοντέλο 68, ήταν η δεύτερη προσπάθεια της ΙΒΜ (μετά τον 5100 το 1975), να κατασκευάσει έναν υπολογιστή που να μπορεί εύκολα να μεταφερθεί. Ονομάστηκε φορητός (portable) επειδή έχει ενσωματωμένη οθόνη, πληκτρολόγιο και disk-drives, όμως δεν έχει τη δυνατότητα να λειτουργήσει με μπαταρίες. Ήταν η απάντηση της IBM στον Compaq Portable που είχε κυκλοφορήσει ένα χρόνο νωρίτερα (1983). Στην πραγματικότητα ήταν ένας IBM PC/XT τοποθετημένος σε θήκη - χαρτοφύλακα, όπως ο Compaq Portable. Η παραγωγή του διακόπηκε το 1986 όταν εμφανίστηκε ο IBM PC Convertible.

The IBM 5155 laptop, model 68, was IBM's second attempt (after the 5100 in 1975) to build a computer that was easily portable. It was called portable because it has a built-in monitor, keyboard and disk-drives, but it does not have the ability to run on batteries. It was IBM's answer to the Compaq Portable that had been released a year earlier (1983). It was actually an IBM PC/XT mounted in a briefcase case, like the Compaq Portable. Its production was discontinued in 1986 when the IBM PC Convertible appeared.
