Ο Ακάθιστος Ύμνος–Η Παναγία το Ρόδον το Αμάραντον. Χαλκογραφία. 1862. Ιουλίου 18. Άγιον Όρος. Χαράκτες: Αβέρκιος και Χαράλαμπος.
Στο κέντρο εικονίζεται η Παναγία το Ρόδον το Αμάραντον ολόσωμη, ένθρονη. Αριστερά και δεξιά, σε δύο κατακόρυφες στήλες, είκοσι τέσσερα στηθάρια με προφήτες, που καταλήγουν επάνω στις μικρές γονατιστές μορφές της αγίας Άννας και του Ιωακείμ. Κάτω από τη Θεοτόκο ξαπλωμένος ο προφήτης Ιεσσαί (πρόκειται δηλαδή για συγκερασμό δύο θεμάτων, του Ρόδου και της Ρίζας του Ιεσσαί). Η κεντρική παράσταση περιβάλλεται από είκοσι τέσσερα εικονίδια με τους Οίκους, που συνοδεύονται από ελληνικές και σλαβονικές επιγραφές.
Όπως μαρτυρεί η επιγραφή στο κάτω τμήμα του πλαισίου, το έργο φιλοτεχνήθηκε από τον γνωστό αγιορείτη χαράκτη Αβέρκιο σε συνεργασία με τον ιερομόναχο Χαράλαμπο, με τη χορηγία του μοναχού Αγαθαγγέλου στις 18 Ιουλίου του 1862 στο Άγιον Όρος. The Akathist Hymn–Virgin “The Unfading Rose”. Copper engraving. 1862, July 18. Mount Athos. Engravers: Averkios and Charalambos.
The Virgin Unfading Rose is portrayed full-length, enthroned in the centre. Right and left of her are two vertical bands containing the busts of twenty-four prophets; above them are the small kneeling figures of Saints Joachim and Anne. Below the Theotokos is the recumbent figure of the prophet Jesse. (The two themes of the Unfading Rose and the Root of Jesse are presented in combination here). The central theme is surrounded by twenty-four miniature icons depicting the Oikoi, with short titles in Greek and Slavonic.
Αs the inscription records, the work was executed by the well-known Athonite engraver Averkios, collaborating with the hieromonk Charalambos at the expense of the most holy monk Agathangelos in the year 1862, on Mount Athos.
