[Πηγή: A. Tourta και H. The two-sided sheet was removed from the Serbian book “Stemmatografija”, in which it formed sheet no. 7. The copperplate engravings of this book, printed in Vienna in 1741, were designed by Hristofor Žefarović and engraved by Thomas Mesmer. It was published at the instigation of Archbishop Arsenios IV, the spiritual leader of the Serbs in the Karlowitz Metropolis, who used it to propagate his political ideas and goals of uniting all Orthodox Slavs in Austria-Hungary under his rule. On one side of the sheet is depicted the Serbian King Stephen Uroš II Milutin (1282-1321) and on the other side Prince Lazar (1371-1389) holding his severed head in his left hand. Under Milutin, Serbian rule spread to areas of the Byzantine Empire, and at the same time Byzantine influence on Serbia’s state institutions increased. Prince Lazar (Lazarus) fell in 1389 in the battle of Kosovo Polje, against the Turks. He was canonized and venerated as a martyr shortly after his death. [Source: A. Tourta και H.
