Ιστορικό Σημείωμα: Το έμβλημα του Βασιλείου της Γαλλίας, ο εστεμμένος θυρεός με τα εραλδικά κρινάνθεμα (τρία από το 1376), συναντάται συχνά σε καθολικές εκκλησίες του Αιγαίου από τα μέσα του 18ου αιώνα και υποδηλώνει την γαλλική προστασία. Εδώ μεταφέρθηκε το 1868 από την παλαιά καθέδρα του Αγίου Ιωάννη του Ξώμπουργου.

Historical Notice: Τhe well-known emblem of the Kingdom of France, bearing the fleurs-de-lis (three since 1376), is frequently found in the catholic churches of the Aegean islands since the middle of the 18th century, as an allusion to the French protection. This particular coat-of-arms was transfered to its actual position in 1868, from the old seat of the Archdiocese (Agios Ioannis of Exobourgo).
